Set your intentions!

We’re now just over a week into the New Year of 2023, and I hope by now your hangover has passed, and you're easing out of holiday mode and into work mode. I myself, am still somewhere on the easing journey, working from my holiday spot in WA's southwest while the kiddy sleeps in the afternoon.

But at the start of this new year, I wanted to take a minute to talk about resolutions and goals.

I’m not really one for resolutions. I do like the concept of a fresh start, but I feel that the term is kind of just thrown around, and not really thought through, and the only time you think of your resolutions again is on New Years Eve the following year, when you think “well sh*t, didn’t follow those through!”.

So this year, I’m not setting myself any unrealistic expectations about losing weight, becoming a millionaire, going on an international holiday, etc.

Instead, I am setting myself some intentions. And this year, I’ve kept my intentions short and sweet.

Personally, my focus this year is on finances. With interest rates and the general cost of living on the rise, we’ve struggled to stay on top of our finances this year and definitely struggled to get ahead like we had planned, so this is a big focus for the year ahead. We’ve got some no-spend months planned, as well as monthly finance check ins to keep us on track, and grocery shopping goals - send me your finance tips that have worked for you!

Professionally, I’ve decided my word for the year is REFINE. Last year, I kind of just jumped straight into business, without properly defining who and what my business is and does, and what my processes look like. This means that this year my focus is on refining my business and direction, and also refining the way in which I work to achieve true work life balance.

I’d love to hear from you in the comments or to my email (info@careerpursuit.com.au) - how did you go with your resolutions last year, and what are your intentions for the year ahead?
